On 25 January, a session entitled “Russia: New Production Hub” took place as part of the business programme at Russia House in Davos with the participation of Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maksim Oreshkin.

He spoke about an improvement in the Russian investment climate and revealed that foreign direct investment in the national economy in 2017 had increased significantly. “We are seeing a number of positive trends with respect to foreign direct investment. In 2015 we received fewer than USD 20 billion in foreign direct investment, whereas in 2017 these investments were already in the region of USD 20-25 million dollars. Now we are seeing opportunities for attracting new investors to the Russian economy,” Maksim Oreshkin noted in his address to session attendees.
Also participating in the session were President of ER-Telecom Holding Andrey Kuzyaev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Russian Machines Siegfried Wolf, and Chairman of the Management Board of SIBUR Holding Dmitry Konov, among others. The major international business figures and experts in attendance agreed that the prerequisites for the development of a high-tech manufacturing industry in Russia have been put in place.
The business programme at Russia House in Davos will continue until 25 January 2018.
